Living in Mae Sot.

When we visited the Thai/Burma Area in 2005 we were touched by the plight of the Karen people of Burma. Following other visits we realised that it is the whole Burmese population that is living in fear of the Burmese military regime. For the local Burmese migrant, life is pretty much the same; exploitation by the Thai businesses, harassment by the local police and general poverty. We support local organisations to help individuals and schools in both the MaeSot area and in the Karen State of Burma.

48Km School

Whilst visiting a number of communities during the week we visited a school about 50Km south of MaeSot. We have never been to the school before but I had met a teacher from the school at Teacher Training during April. The children at the school had a lot of energy and we had a good time watching them play games and talking to them in our pigeon Burmese. I have attached a video of a game they were playing with some elastic bands. It was only a short visit but we will go back soon.
